A Tribute to my Burger written by Carol
Burger and I shared many special moments in our life together .. he came into my life as an 8 week old puppy .. there was not any where I went without my boy .. he took pride of place in the back seat .. he hated sitting in the front .. and was trained into a doggy car seat harness from the age of 8 weeks .. as we travelled around Queensland doing dog shows he had be looking out the window once we came to cities .. this is where he did his window shopping .. soon as we were through the town he had go back to sleeping again .. he just loved the car .. once in Mackay at a dog show a policeman came up to the car to speak to me about something .. I did warn him .. stand back from the door .. well I do not have to tell you the rest .. Burger took care of putting him back on the footpath even from his harness.
Burger did a lot of shows .. most of which he hated .. I persevered with this boy like no other .. his best intention was to eat the male dog beside him .. many times I had to take a 3 meter stand behind the rest of the field .. he did me proud just being Burger .. he took out several Reserve Challenges .. that was my boy .. I eventually retired him as a 5 year old from the show circuit as he simply did not enjoy it.
we shared a very special bond about 5 years ago when this magical boy saved my life .. had he not have barked at the time .. I hate to think who would have taken care of my kids in a time of tragedy .. I am always grateful for his actions .. the shame of it all is I could not save my boy when he needed me most .. the best I could do was to allow him peace and pain free .. he was suffering as his problem was not diagnosed until it was way to late .. I will always miss and treasure my best mate .. my love for this boy will never falter .. neither will another boy ever replace the loss or love I feel for my Precious Burger.
